The Los Angeles Rams will have six selection in the upcoming NFL Draft with their first pick coming at 52. The question is however, despite having less than a desired amount of draft picks, what type or what caliber of player could the Rams be looking at with each selection.

Below we’ll take a look at the past 10 years of NFL Drafts and what players were taken where the Rams will choose later this month. We’ll also look at who the Rams have taken with that selection in the past if they have ever held it.

52nd Overall

2019: TE Drew Sample
2018: DE Kemoko Turay
2017: QB DeShone Kizer
2016: LB Deion Jones
2015: DT Jordan Phillips
2014: TE Troy Niklas
2013: LB Jamie Collins*
2012: LB Zach Brown*
2011: DT Marvin Austin
2010: DE Jason Worilds

The 52nd overall pick has produced quality starters over the past 10 years. Sample has shown potential with the Bengals, but then you get Turay who had a solid rookie season, Deion Jones, and then pro bowl linebackers Jamie Collins and Zach Brown. Linebacker could be a target for the Rams here in the 2020 draft and all three that have taken with this pick have turned out to be solid selections.

Last Time Rams Held Pick: 2007, RB Brian Leonard

Leonard was a fullback that was drafted as a hybrid player and was traded two years later to the Bengals. He had one 100 yard game rushing, but never really had an impact on the field.

84th Overall

2019: DT Khalen Saunders
2018: DT Justin Jones
2017: WR Chris Godwin*
2016: CB Kendall Fuller
2015: LB Jordan Hicks
2014: DE Kareem Martin
2013: S Shawn Williams
2012: RB Bernard Pierce
2011: LB Mason Foster
2010: WR Jordan Shipley

Again, you have some quality starters and some good depth here in the third round. Godwin made the Pro Bowl last season while HIcks, Fuller, and Williams have each proved to be solid pieces on defense for their respective teams. The Rams may not get a star player here, but a contributor should certainly be in the cards.

Last Time Rams Held Pick: 2007, CB Jonathan Wade

Wade is another product of a string of bad drafts for the Rams. Wade was not re-signed after his three year contract expired and never started for another team in the NFL.

104th Overall

2019: QB Ryan Finley
2018: RB Nyheim Hines
2017: QB CJ Beathard
2016: CB Tavon Young
2015: S James Sample
2014: WR Jalen Saunders
2013: LB Jelani Jenkins
2012: WR Joe Adams
2011: TE Luck Stocker
2010: CB Alterraun Verner*

Late in the third round the Rams will be looking for depth. In two of the last three years, the team with this selection has taken  a backup quarterback while the most notable pick came in 2010 when the Titans took Alterraun Verner. Hines is also notable as the Rams will be in the market for a running back.

Last Time Rams Held Pick: 2000, OT Kaulana Noa

Noa spent two years on the Rams’ practice squad, but never made the active roster.

126th Overall

2019: WR Riley Ridley
2018: RB Ito Smith
2017: CB Howard Wilson
2016: WR Demarcus Robinson
2015: RB Mike Davis
2014: LB Khairi Fortt
2013: DE William Gholston
2012: DE Jared Crick
2011: RB Bilal Powell
2010: CB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah

This will be an interesting selection for the Rams. Three running backs have been selected here while you also have high-upside wide receivers in RIdley and Robinson. This is a good spot for the Rams to get some depth with the potential for the player to develop into a starter.

Last Time Rams Held Pick: 1975, C Rick Nuzum

Nuzum spent one year with the Rams and one year with the Packers before he was out of the NFL.

199th Overall

2019: DE Gerri Green
2018: QB Luke Falk
2017: C Chase Roullier
2016: WR Cody Core
2015: DT Leterrius Wilson
2014: OT Garrett Scott
2013: RB Theo Riddick
2012: OT Jason Slowley
2011: DT Jerrell Powell
2010: QB Joe Webb

Here we are in the sixth round and you see a solid running back like Riddick which is exactly what the Rams need at the position. It’s going to be possible for them to get a running back that can contribute late. Outside of Riddick, there isn’t a lot here.

Last Time Rams Held Pick: 1972, LB Tom Graham

234th Overall

2019: RB Myles Gaskin
2018: LB Andre Smith
2017: LB Ejuan Price
2016: G Vadal Alexander
2015: WR Dezmin Lewis
2014: DE Terrence Fede
2013: QB Zach Dysert
2012: OT Marcel Jones
2011: LB Andrew Gachkar
2010: DT Sean Lissemore

In the seventh round there won’t be a lot here either. The Rams will be looking for a player like Myles Gaskin who has some upside or look for a player to add some depth.

Last Time Rams Held Pick: 2017, LB Ejuan Price

The Rams took Ejuan Price from Pitt in 2017. He spent one year with the Rams.
