In this new series, we give you one-minute draft profiles. In a pinch of time but want to learn in general about prospects in this draft? This series might be perfect for you. Nothing crazy, no links, no stats, just a straight-up paragraph of the player’s strengths and weaknesses, a comparison and round grade if need be.
The Best: Three-year team captain following the departing of NFL QB Carson Wentz. Very athletic QB that can make things happen with his legs. Escape-ability once the pocket breaks down is above average. Always looking to extend the play. Relatively powerful and fast runner that can actually take over games with his athleticism (rushed for 41 touchdowns in college). When given time, can make the big-time throw downfield. Displays good pocket presence and throws with anticipation. Footwork is very good, quick and compact thrower of the football.
The Worst: Played in a scheme that was tailored for the easy deep ball over the top. Average arm strength, lacks ball velocity and can’t fit it into a tight window. Consistency is not there, erratic quarterback that can get rattled early on in the game. More athlete than pure passer.
My Position Grade: QB12
Player Comp: Cooper Rush
