The Los Angeles Rams made their first pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. After a long wait, the Rams have settled on wide receiver TuTu Atwell out of Louisville. The Rams were looking to add speed to their wide receiver room and have done just that. Atwell ran a 4.27 and will bring explosiveness to the Rams offense.
Atwell finished his college career with 46 catches and 625 yards. He could also fill in as a return man on the punt team as well as stretch the field for Matthew Stafford.
There was some surprise from Rams fans as outside of Landon Dickerson all of the centers were still available. Not only centers, but many top linebackers choices were also on the board. Seattle took wide receiver D’Wayne Eskridge at pick 56, one selection before the Rams. It’s worth noting that the Rams could have had some interest in him.
One aspect of Tutu Atwell that may be concerning is his size. He is exceptionally small at 5’8, 149-lbs. Atwell could struggle against press and making the difficult catches.
The Rams have two selection in the third round. Their next pick comes at 88 and then they will select again 15 picks later at 103.
