Our panel has voted on the top 25 teams in the league just like the AP does for college football. We decided to tally up all the votes and rank our top 25 teams in the NFL. Our panel consists of nine DTR staff writers: Lewie Bartone, Skyler Carlin, Jake Ellenbogen, Daniel Fox, Blaine Grisak, Rick Harriman, Alexis Kraft, Brent Lancaster, and Jason Tyra.
Our method of doing this was assigning a point total to every ranking place from 1-to-25. So, for instance, if a team like the Chiefs were in first they would receive 25 points on that ballot whereas if they were in 25th they would only receive one point. We realize it’s early on in the year and a lot can change which is why we started the DTR Power 25 right at the end of the first quarter of the NFL season.
Week four was a bit of a change as we saw the Tampa Buccaneers shoot their way into our top 10 and the Philadelphia Eagles break into the Power 25. The Jacksonville Jaguars fell out of the Power 25 after their lost to Joe Burrow and the Bengals but for the most part it was just a matter of shuffling around the rankings as 24 out of the 25 teams of last week retained their spot in our Power 25. The biggest jump in this week’s rankings came from the Cleveland Browns after the Browns stunned the Cowboys on the road, they moved to 13th on our rankings which is five spots up from last week. The Buffalo Bills also inched a little closer to taking that fourth-place spot from the Baltimore Ravens after their impressive road victory in Las Vegas.
Other receiving votes: Bengals 20, Jaguars 7, Broncos 5, Washington 4, Falcons 4
The New York Jets and New York Giants were the only teams to not receive a vote yet again in our poll. Both teams have been beaten up by injuries but both were competitive in their games this weekend including the Giants who took it down to the wire versus the Los Angeles Rams on the road. The Bengals fell just one vote out of the Power 25 following their first win of the season against the Jaguars. Speaking of which the Jaguars fell out of the Power 25 following their loss to the Bengals. The Denver Broncos grabbed five votes following their win over the Jets and rounding out the other receiving votes were the Washington Football Team and Atlanta Falcons who both lost their games in week four convincingly.
Be sure to keep it here for your weekly Power 25 as we vote weekly on who the 25 best NFL teams are.
