The Madden simulation as usual hit on some things and missed some others. I did like how the AI split the carries for Brown, Akers and Henderson. What I didn’t like is how the game simulated Jared Goff to not throw around the mid-4,000-yard mark. I also didn’t agree with the idea of the Rams having zero 1,000-yard receivers or rushers. It felt like the game didn’t subscribe to the idea that the Rams offense is the strength because the Rams offense in this one finished 26th in the league whereas the brand new Brandon Staley defense finished 11th in the league.

I tend to believe this team is an 11-win team and Madden looked to follow my thinking when they had the Rams win four of their first five games. However, they quickly backed off that with a three-game losing streak. Third-round rookie pass-rusher Terrell Lewis couldn’t get off the injury report and Josh Reynolds who started off the year with a monster 200-plus yard performance ended up tearing his ACL and missing the season. The injuries struck the Rams hard with those losses but also losses to second-round rookie running back Cam Akers who was in and out as well as a veteran back Malcolm Brown. Tight end Gerald Everett ruptured his Achilles and ended up missing the season after week one. The defense was gashed by a Troy Hill bicep tear and Sebastian Joseph-Day high ankle sprain.

Hopefully, the Rams do not experience injuries like the ones Madden simulated in this event. I will take a playoff appearance though and a dominant win over the Green Bay Packers. Getting blown out by the Saints in the divisional round though? Yeah, I don’t think that’s happening. If the Rams made the playoffs, then teams in the playoffs should be quaking. Seeing Samuel Sloman struggle to hit 70 percent of his field goals worried me and seeing Terrell Burgess having a rookie season for the ages and not winning defensive rookie of the year made me angrier than I should probably advertise on here…
