The Rams brought back an important piece of their defense earlier today but unfortunately, they lost an important piece of their special teams in Greg Zuerlein. The 32-year-old kicker out of Missouri Western State and the man that sent the Rams to the Super Bowl has departed. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Zuerlein is reuniting with John Fassel and is signing a three-year deal worth $7.5 million.
This marks the end of an 8 season run with the Rams. He was drafted out of the 6th-round in 2012 by the St. Louis Rams and was known for his big-time leg which led to him collecting nicknames like “Legatron” along the way. This is a big loss for the Rams as Zuerlein is easily one of the best kickers in football and also because the Rams now no longer have a kicker.
Zuerlein’s Rams tenure comes to a close with 119 games, 201 made field goals out of 245, a total of 867 points scored and of course, a legacy that will last a lifetime.
