The former waiver claim from 2016 who carved out an impressive role for the Rams throughout his young career is officially headed to the New York Jets per Adam Schefter.
Jets signed former Rams’ DB Marqui Christian, per source. He’s likely to be Jets third safety.

Marqui Christian was drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He was waived early on in the season in an attempt to sneak him onto their practice squad but the Los Angeles Rams claimed Christian off of waivers right before their game against Arizona and he remained on the team until now. Christian, the 25-year-old safety out of Midwestern State, ended up going from special teams contributor to eventual Wade Phillips chess piece for the Rams defense in which his snap count skyrocketed this past season.
He heads to the Jets in likely the same role to be that third safety behind Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye. It’s a bummer to see Christian go especially for us here at Downtown Rams who had the chance to interview him in 2017. You can listen to the interview Blaine Grisak and I conducted with him on the DTR podcast here:
