In a head-scratching move, the Rams have released Todd Gurley per their official website.
Gurley, just 25-years old is now free to sign with any team in the NFL. This comes only two years after being made the highest-paid running back in the league. Gurley finishes his Rams career with 5,404 rushing yards, 2,090 receiving yards, 58 rushing touchdowns, 12 receiving touchdowns on 1,265 carries and 218 receptions.
The Rams designated this move as a post-June 1st move according to Field Yates which will save $5.5 million.
Source: the Rams released RB Todd Gurley with a post-June 1 designation, meaning the team will spread the dead money cap charges over two seasons. The team will also see $5.5M in cap savings that becomes available on June 2.
