The Los Angeles Rams are on the path to hiring Brandon Staley, former Broncos outside linebackers coach, as their new defensive coordinator.

The team flew Staley out on Jan. 9 and he spent the day with Sean McVay, and according to Ian Rapoport, the deal is close between the Rams and Staley to be the new man in charge of the defense.

Staley is a 14-year coaching veteran and this past season was his second as Broncos OLBs coach. Staley previously worked for the Chicago Bears (2017), John Carroll University, James Madison University, the University of Tennessee, Hutchinson Community College, and Northern Illinois.

This move may signal the end of Joe Barry’s tenure as a coach with the Los Angeles Rams, as he is in heavy consideration for USC’s defensive coordinator role.
