The Rams had some up and down play out of their offensive line this past week versus the Indianapolis Colts. Now, they likely aren’t planning on switching out any of their starters, but they do feel like they need more veteran depth and that is exactly why they worked out a pair of veteran tackles and ended up signing Cornelius Lucas.
The team in correspondence cut ties with C J.J. Dielman and DT Quinton Jefferson. In another move the Rams released C Jake Eldrenkamp from the practice squad which might mean that the plan is to transfer Dielman there right after this official NFL move is in place.
Lucas, an undrafted 26-year old out of Kansas State was on the Detroit Lions roster for three seasons. He has monstrous size at 6-foot-9, 325 pounds and has played in a total of 30 games (6 of which he started in). There is a chance Lucas could see action later in the year if injury occurs or a player the Rams coaching staff thinks highly of doesn’t perform up to par.
