Former Redskins Defensive Coordinator Joe Barry and former Saints DL coach Bill Johnson are joining Sean McVay’s new coaching staff in Los Angeles.
Barry was raved about by McVay a collective amount of times this season, he respects him and clearly feels as though he shouldn’t have been fired in Washington. As for Johnson, it sounds like this was a move based off the fact that former DL coach Mike Waufle was deciding to retire from the NFL coaching landscape.
Barry will be the LB coach as well as Ast. HC which should be an interesting pull for UFA LB Will Compton. It remains to be seen what this staff will look like, but McVay started off the staff by hiring Phillips as his DC and retaining John Fassel for the Special Teams job.
This coaching staff could end up being very promising and with the rumored coaches of Greg Olson, Marc Trestman and Wes Phillips swirling, it should make for an interesting off-season.
