Jared Goff has cleared the concussion protocol and will start this Saturday as the Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers.
Goff was inactive the first game of the year, so he was unable to play against his childhood favorite team. This Saturday will be different. Different head coach, different stadium, different circumstances and of course both teams playing for virtually nothing, but pride.
Rams interim HC John Fassell confirmed that Sean Mannion would backup Goff for likely the rest of the year. Mannion has only seen a very limited amount of action and many fans would even rather see him over Goff.
With season beginning starter Case Keenum likely gone via free agency next season, there is no reason to throw him out in a game for any reason. These are valuable regular season repetitions that young QB’s Goff and Mannion both need.
