Here at Downtown Rams we are looking forward to picking every game every week of the NFL season. With that being said here are our panels records and picks for week two.
Jake Ellenbogen: 10-6
Blaine Grisak: 10-6
Josh Hardin 9-7
Lorenzo Munoz 10-6
(0-1) New York Jets vs. (0-1) Buffalo Bills
The NY Jets are going to Buffalo for Thursday Night Football and will look to bounce back after losing a tough game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bills weren’t able to put up much of a fight in week one versus the Baltimore Ravens so at home they could come alive. The Jets ultimately should be ready to roll with the return of Sheldon Richardson from suspension. It is worth noting the Jets have lost their last five games against their rival Bills.
Winner: (Jets 3 Bills 1)
Jake Ellenbogen: New York Jets
Blaine Grisak: New York Jets
Josh Hardin: Buffalo Bills
Lorenzo Munoz: New York Jets
(0-1) New Orleans Saints vs. (1-0) New York Giants
Both teams come into this game having played in some close ones. The Giants escaped Dallas with a win versus the Dak Prescott led Cowboys team and the Saints missed a 61-yard field goal in a crazy finish to lose their home opener versus the Oakland Raiders. This game last year was a shoot out the Saints beat the Giants in overtime 52-49. We will see if another shootout is in the works. However, it’s not likely with the new revamped Giants defense.
Winner: (New York Giants unanimously)
Jake Ellenbogen: New York Giants
Blaine Grisak: New York Giants
Josh Hardin: New York Giants
Lorenzo Munoz: New York Giants
(0-1) Tennessee Titans vs. (1-0) Detroit Lions
The Lions won an absolute thriller versus the Colts at Lucas Oil. The Titans? Well, they got off to a good start versus the NFC North champion Vikings and then it got brutal. The Titans have an up-and-coming offense and the Lions have an offense that is proving it never went away. Lions at Ford Field coming off the win though could pose some trouble.
Winner: (Lions 3 Titans 1)
Jake Ellenbogen: Detroit Lions
Blaine Grisak: Detroit Lions
Josh Hardin: Tennessee Titans
Lorenzo Munoz: Detroit Lions
(0-1) Dallas Cowboys vs. (0-1) Washington Redskins
Early back-to-back NFC East division battles for the Cowboys, first they played the Giants last week in a game that came down to the wire and now they go to D.C. to play the Redskins. Coming into this game the big storyline is going to be WR Dez Bryant versus CB Josh Norman. That is the matchup to watch this Sunday.
Winner: (Redskins 3 Cowboys 1)
Jake Ellenbogen: Dallas Cowboys
Blaine Grisak: Washington Redskins
Josh Hardin: Washington Redskins
Lorenzo Munoz: Washington Redskins
(1-0) Kansas City Chiefs vs. (1-0) Houston Texans
The Chiefs had the biggest comeback in franchise history last week versus the Chargers but they will take on a more competitive team in the Houston Texans. The Texans have a revamped offense and a ton of speed on the field with that which poses nightmares for the defense which was exposed last week. The Chiefs will be without RB Jamaal Charles again this week.
Winner: (Texans 2 Chiefs 2)
Jake Ellenbogen: Houston Texans
Blaine Grisak: Kansas City Chiefs
Josh Hardin: Kansas City Chiefs
Lorenzo Munoz: Houston Texans
(0-1) Miami Dolphins vs. (1-0) New England Patriots
The Dolphins came into Seattle and really scared every fan in the stadium. The Dolphins looked like a tough team last Sunday however, this Sunday they will have a better team again on the road in the New England Patriots who upset the Arizona Cardinals last week in dramatic fashion.
Winner: (New England Patriots unanimously)
Jake Ellenbogen: New England Patriots
Blaine Grisak: New England Patriots
Josh Hardin: New England Patriots
Lorenzo Munoz: New England Patriots
(1-0) Baltimore Ravens vs. (0-1) Cleveland Browns
Josh McCown is under center this week after the worst offensive line in football quite possibly caused RG3’s season to end abruptly. McCown will have the task of winning the Browns first game of the season to a rough and ragged Ravens defense.
Winner: (Baltimore Ravens unanimously)
Jake Ellenbogen: Baltimore Ravens
Blaine Grisak: Baltimore Ravens
Josh Hardin: Baltimore Ravens
Lorenzo Munoz: Baltimore Ravens
(1-0) San Francisco 49ers vs. (0-1) Carolina Panthers
The 49ers impressively dominated the Rams last week on Monday Night Football. That might be the end of their winning streak. The Carolina Panthers come into this game angry they just lost versus the team that just beat them in the Super Bowl. Cam Newton appears to have been banged up and this will give us a hint of how good the 49ers are this season.
Winner: (Carolina Panthers unanimously)
Jake Ellenbogen: Carolina Panthers
Blaine Grisak: Carolina Panthers
Josh Hardin: Carolina Panthers
Lorenzo Munoz: Carolina Panthers
(1-0) Cincinnati Bengals vs. (1-0) Pittsburgh Steelers
In what should be a really quality game and quite possibly the game of the week. The Steelers come into this game still without star RB LeVeon Bell due to his suspension. The Bengals come into this game without their main red zone target TE Tyler Eifert who had 10 touchdowns last year, he is on the shelf for four-to-six weeks. Both teams looked great last week so this could come down ot the final possession.
Winner: (Pittsburgh Steelers unanimously)
Jake Ellenbogen: Pittsburgh Steelers
Blaine Grisak: Pittsburgh Steelers
Josh Hardin: Pittsburgh Steelers
Lorenzo Munoz: Pittsburgh Steelers
(1-0) Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. (0-1) Arizona Cardinals
Many had the Cardinals beating the Patriots on Sunday Night Football. However, a missed field goal at the end of the game ended their game with a loss. The Bucs however, started off slow versus their rival Falcons and ended up finishing with the win. Cardinals are in a trap game and don’t want to fall to 0-2 however, this Buccaneers team is no joke.
Winner: (Cardinals 3 Buccaneers 1)
Jake Ellenbogen: Arizona Cardinals
Blaine Grisak: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Josh Hardin: Arizona Cardinals
Lorenzo Munoz: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(0-0) Seattle Seahawks vs. (0-0) Los Angeles Rams
The Rams are coming off an embarrassing loss in front of the entire country on Monday Night Football. Here they come into the L.A. Coliseum for the first L.A. Rams regular season home game since 1994. The Seahawks come into this game with a win they squeaked out with at home against bottom dweller Miami Dolphins. This game should be interesting as the Rams have won three of the last four meetings.
Winner: (Rams 2 Seahawks 2)
Jake Ellenbogen: Los Angeles Rams
Blaine Grisak: Seattle Seahawks
Josh Hardin: Los Angeles Rams
Lorenzo Munoz: Seattle Seahawks
(0-1) Atlanta Falcons vs. (1-0) Oakland Raiders
Another season in which the Falcons get off to a bad start is now possible with the loss versus their rival Bucs. The Raiders on the other hand are looking to go 2-0 after their thrilling victory in New Orleans. The Raiders appear on the rise while the Falcons continue to go downhill every year.
Winner: (Oakland Raiders unanimously)
Jake Ellenbogen: Oakland Raiders
Blaine Grisak: Oakland Raiders
Josh Hardin: Oakland Raiders
Lorenzo Munoz: Oakland Raiders
(0-1) Jacksonville Jaguars vs. (0-1) San Diego Chargers
Don’t sleep on the Jaguars this is a new and improved team that has a misleading record to start the season. The Jaguars lost a very close game to the Green Bay Packers and showed they could seriously contend this season. The Chargers on the other hand looked great versus their rival Chiefs but blew a big lead and ended up losing the game in overtime. The Chargers didn’t just lose the game though, they also lost their number one receiver Keenan Allen for the year with a torn ACL. To make matters worse their number three overall pick DL Joey Bosa appears likely to miss his second straight game.
Winner: (Jacksonville Jaguars unanimously)
Jake Ellenbogen: Jacksonville Jaguars
Blaine Grisak: Jacksonville Jaguars
Josh Hardin: Jacksonville Jaguars
Lorenzo Munoz: Jacksonville Jaguars
(0-1) Indianapolis Colts vs. (1-0) Denver Broncos
Andrew Luck is coming off an incredible game in which he threw four touchdowns and no interceptions leading back the Colts who then lost their game tough to the Lions. The Broncos on the other hand beat the defending NFC champions in a Super Bowl rematch. The defense dominated and won them the contest. Could Luck be in trouble versus the best defense in football?
Winner: (Broncos 3 Colts 1)
Jake Ellenbogen: Denver Broncos
Blaine Grisak: Indianapolis Colts
Josh Hardin: Denver Broncos
Lorenzo Munoz: Denver Broncos
(1-0) Green Bay Packers vs. (1-0) Minnesota Vikings
An early rematch of the NFC North title game comes between Aaron Rodgers versus Sam Bradford? That is what is being expected. Bradford sat out last week in favor of Shaun Hill who knows the offense more than a QB that was traded to the Vikings in less than a months time. This could be a seriously competitive game no matter who starts for the Vikings because they have the defense to play anyone tough. It looks as though the Packers CB Sam Shields could be out with a concussion.
Winner: (Green Bay Packers unanimously)
Jake Ellenbogen: Green Bay Packers
Blaine Grisak: Green Bay Packers
Josh Hardin: Green Bay Packers
Lorenzo Munoz: Green Bay Packers
(0-0) Philadelphia Eagles vs. (0-0) Chicago Bears
Carson Wentz is the talk of the media lately after his very impressive rookie debut last week versus the Browns. Unfortunately for Wentz some are taking his debut with a grain of salt due to the nature of the competition and that argument won’t get any better this Monday Night Football game versus one of the worst teams it seems Chicago Bears. The Bears clearly miss Gase and Forte and it could be a long year for them.
Winner: (Eagles 3 Bears 1)
Jake Ellenbogen: Philadelphia Eagles
Blaine Grisak: Philadelphia Eagles
Josh Hardin: Chicago Bears
Lorenzo Munoz: Philadelphia Eagles
