In a shocking turn of events the Rams let Akeem Ayers go in the cut-down to 53-men and they wanted to bring him back for less money. Ayers was not about that clearly, he went on to sign with the Indianapolis Colts today. Are you not entertained? Well as a Rams fan it is hard to justifying letting Akeem Ayers go but you just have to find enjoyment in a way out of seeing Ayers deny the Rams.
Here’s the thing you may think I sound like a bad fan but there is no doubt the Rams deserved to get stood up by Ayers after they cut him. Ayers played a solid role in relief for injured OLB now inside Alec Ogletree. The Rams apparently felt like he was being overpaid? If three-million for one more year is overpaid for a starter at outside linebacker then the Rams are a little frugal.
Who would have thought that a Fisher guy would have been released by Jeff Fisher for playing solid football. I mean Ayers plays well and gets cut but LaMarcus Joyner, Brian Quick, Coty Sensabaugh and Cam Thomas are on the 53-man roster having underperformed. This was a debacle by the Rams but overall it shouldn’t cripple them seeing as Ayers isn’t a transcendent player by any means. Still nonetheless not a good look for the new regime to just cut a guy who was going to open the season in a significant role.
