In one of the biggest shockers of preseason Quinton Coples was cut today by the Los Angeles Rams. Coples was brought onto the team to join former UNC teammate Robert Quinn in a very dangerous rotation. Coples signed a three-year deal this offseason and many felt he could be William Hayes replacement if Hayes were to hit a wall or retire.
This is an indication that a player like Matt Longacre is a safe bet to make the roster and UDFA Ian Seau the nephew of Junior Seau might be on the verge of breaking through. This is quite shocking to say the least as Coples looked solid in his run defense and forced two fumbles during preseason. This may or may not be the right move by the Rams but this sure sets the tone early in the Rams cut period.
